Jordan’s Furniture is a New England retailer that invites shoppers to enjoy convenience, variety, and entertainment all under the same roof. With IMAX theaters in Natick and Reading, MA, Jordan’s is a destination for moviegoers and furniture buyers alike. Their new website, launched on March 31, 2010, captures the innovative, customer-friendly approach that sets Jordan’s apart from its competitors.
To make the customer’s shopping experience as easy as possible, the site’s information architecture was totally revamped, and the product categories and nomenclature were revised. With a much more streamlined and user-friendly navigation, visitors to the site can now use convenient drop-down menus to browse selections for Living Rooms, Bedrooms, Dining, Entertainment, and Home Offices, among others. Other useful updates include a product comparison tool that allows customers to view items’ prices, materials, origins, and other features in an easy-to-read chart. In addition, an events calendar for each store location was added, along with an add-to-order feature that simplifies and facilitates online ordering,
On the back-end, we worked with Jordan’s IT team to integrate different systems with Sitecore, the content management system, including integration of a very extensive catalogue database and Microsoft Commerce Server. We also integrated Scene7, used to zoom product photography for a closer look, with the CMS.
As part of the project, Jordan’s Furniture IMAX website was updated with a new interface and functionality. Moviegoers can now view current and upcoming movie trailers—a QuickTime or MPEG-4 or Flash video will play automatically depending on the user’s available browser plug-in or type of device.
The end result: Jordan’s new Internet presence, like their stores, is not just a website, but “an experience.”
